MY  STUDENTS SAY THAT I MAKE LEARNING ACCESSIBLE AND ENJOYABLE FOR THEM. …….ESPECIALLY THE FOLLOWING SUBJECTS………

English Literature and English Language, History, and Art.

I cover all the exam boards, and can help you focus on essay construction and study skills to achieve extra marks that will  make the difference. I teach GCSE, A A/S LEVEL, and DEGREE.

In English Literature and Language, amongst other things I can show you is what to look for in poetry and how to compare the poems  leading to the writing of an essay.  Find out what is  really in a newspaper or magazine, plus, what to discuss and write about concerning Shakespeare’s work.

In History, the  aspects of, who, what, where, when, and why, are really important to an essay. So is understanding the area of bias. Construction of the essay through the understanding of history is key to good marks. Your opinion can make a real difference.

In Art, discussion and writing about method and process can lead to an insight into your understanding and use of your creative skills. It also makes for a good essay. How art  portfolios are compiled is again key to the evidence that examiners will seek. Learn how to do this.

Everyone has different needs concerning study, I will do my best to tailor something for you. Feedback to your work is, I believe, very important. It supports, motivates, and builds confidence, so when you produce the work I will give you feedback on it so that you can gain these key points.

More parents are taking their children out of school and educating them at home, using money provided by their Local Authority for Home Schooling. Swindon mother, Liz, decided on Home Schooling for her second son Joshua, after she felt her oldest son was failed by his school due to him having dyslexia. Liz hires a private tutor for 2 hours per week. The rest of the time his education is up to himself, using online education and traditional learning methods. His mother believes he is doing better this way. Joshua is taking some GCSEs two years early. Figures obtained by BBC South (June 7th, 2011) shows in some areas Home Education has risen by 50%. 5th  June  2011.

I  made  a  decision  to  employ  a  tutor  when  my  son  slipped  down  a  couple  of  school  groups  in  English  at  the  beginning  of  Year  10.  It  was  said  that  he  was  lacking  in  motivation  and  enthusiasm  in  the  subject  and  would  be  lucky  to  pass  his  GCSE  with  a  C  grade.  Since  he  started  working  with  Pat  on  a  weekly  basis  both  his  attitude  and  interest  in  the  subject  have  changed  for  the  better.

Pat  has  given  him  strategies  to  work  with,  worked  with  him  on  his  coursework  and  more  importantly  given  him  the  confidence  in  himself  to  believe  that  he  can  pass  and  achieve.  And,  even  better,  as  of  the  time  of  writing  he  has  passed  his  English  Language  GCSE  with  a  B  grade !  From  a  parent’s  point  of  view  Pat  has  been  a  pleasure  to  work  with.  She  always  gives  useful  feedback  on  the  lesson,  is  reliable,  trustworthy  and  is  dedicated  to  the  success  of  her  pupil.  I  would  not  hesitate  to  highly  recommend  her.

PORTSMOUTH ,  May  2011  :

In  Portsmouth,  schools  should  have  the  capacity  to  support  One  To  One  Tuition  through  the  Pupil  Premium.  Especially  those  who  are   Looked  After  Children, and  children  who  are  at  risk  of  not  making  progress.

CONSIDER  THIS……. FROM THE BBC  WEBSITE  :

On  the BBC  News  Education  and  Family  website  Mike  Baker  a  freelance  education  journalist  and   broadcaster  said:  “Nor  is  it  that,  as  the  government  confirmed  in  it’s  spending  allocations  statement,  some   individual  schools  will  not  only  fail  to  get  a  real  terms  spending  increase,  but  may  get  an  absolute  cash  terms  cut.”

A   tutor  spoke  to  the  BBC  and  said : “I  have worked  as  a  One  To One  Tutor  for  the  last  two  years  and  have  seen  first  hand  the  benefits  of  this  provision.  Pupils  have  shown  a  huge  increase  in  confidence. Not  only  with  working  with  me  individually,  but  also  when  they  are  back  in  the  classroom.

Their academic  improvement  has  been  amazing, far  beyond  what  was  expected.  For  some  children  just  having  someone  to  reassure  them  at  every  step  makes  the  difference.  Take  this  provision  away  and  I  dread  to  think  what  will  happen  to  British  education.”  R. UK.
